Computer Consulting and Repair

I've used computers since childhood. My first Mac (which I still have in storage) has a 16Mhz processor and a maximum of 4MB of RAM. Today's machines have processors that run more than 300 times faster (we're up to 4 800Mhz if you believe AMD, and with multi-processor pro-sumer systems it is possible to get up to 10 000Mhz) and some can handle 4000 times more memory (16GB in some Power Mac G5s).
I used to work in a local computer store, selling and repairing Mac systems. I built my own computer that I used for a few years out of what everyone else said were broken parts. Suffice to say I know what I'm doing in all but the most difficult of situations, with both Mac OS and Windows XP systems. While I no longer work at a retail computer store I still provide consulting and on-site technical support to those who want it.

Has your PC gradually slowed down since you bought it? Do advertisements spontaneously appear on your screen while you're checking your email or trying to work? Do you have a virus that you can't get rid of? I can help.

Are you looking to buy a new computer, but can't decide what to get out of all the thousands (millions?) of possible combinations of processors, motherboards, hard drives, memory, optical drives, power supplies and peripherals? I can help.

Have you decided that you would like to network a few computers in your home, but don't know what to buy or how to set everything up? I can help.

As a part-time student I have flexible hours, so you don't have to take time away from work to get your home computer repaired. I charge a modest $20 per hour of service (plus $10 per hour of travel time unless you pick me up, in which case travel is free), which I think you will find is at most half of what other companies in the Ottawa area will charge you. If you bring your computer into your local retailer it's likely to cost you more to have it sit on a shelf in their back room for a few days than to have me come over to your house and fix it.

I can be reached by email at sayyad@sayyad.ca or by phone at (819) 685-1910 (I'm in Aylmer, Quebec, which is a 15 minute drive from downtown Ottawa). Give me a call, I'll see what I can do to get your computer running like new again.
