So if you couldn’t already tell, I’ve been REALLY fucking
busy with Amplify 819 shows over the last few months and just getting
settled into Ottawa… so much so I haven’t had a chance to
update the site!
Firstly I want to give a big shout out to everyone who has been out to
the last few shows and to each of the bands for rocking the house down!
In case you missed them we had some fucking insane bills.

FYI, my anniversary show, despite there being a fucking awesome bill,
was a bust with me losing more money than I’d like to admit. And
what really sucks about that is that that show was the determining factor
as to whether or not I would continue doing shows in Shawville, Quebec.
From a financial perspective it is ridiculous for me to be putting so
much time and effort when I still am not sure how many people will come
out. Also I was shuttling back and forth from Ottawa to Shawville (I don’t
have a car anymore!) And it was still just me doing ALL of the work. Why
waste my time when I have a ton of people willing to help out and work
for me in Ottawa for hugs alone? I know that the work I did in Shawville
was significant and never went unappreciated but I look at it now as my
training wheels for the big city. Hopefully some kids were inspired to
start their own bands, pick up an instrument or just organize a backyard
gig! If anyone is interested, I’d be willing to oversee/advise on
any future Pontiac shows, but I can’t commit to booking there. (So
bands, please stop asking for Shawville dates!!!)
On that note, the principal of Amplify 819 has changed dramatically in
moving to Ottawa! Obviously we don’t encourage alcohol or drug use
or abuse, but see no problem in holding live music concerts in places
that serve alcohol if the venue is available. We want our shows to be
open to an all ages audience and apologize for anyone who wasn’t
able to attend the last few shows because of the 18+ rule.
I am currently re-evaluating booking options at Le Bop in Hull, QC. Now
looking into booking this Fall in Ottawa. Some new faces will joining
forces with Amplify 819!
